Virtual Show 2021: Results

And here are the results!

Our judge this year was Beth McVerry, owner of the Cherrybank herd from NZ, who won Champion last year with her bull Riland Ranger. She asked her father, Henry Clothier to help in places, particularly where classes had animals with her own breeding. Beth would like to thank everyone who entered and made her job so difficult. Virtual Show 2021

Following the success of last year’s virtual show, we have decided to run it again. This is a chance for any member to enter their Riggits in an online show. Entries are open to all registered Riggits. There is no requirement for them to be haltered. Two photos are required for each entry: one side view and one rear view. Photos can be taken anywhere - in a field, on a hillside - anywhere! We only ask that they are fully registered correctly marked Riggits, you are a paid up member of the society, and photos should be recently taken (within the last 3 months). There are no entry fees.

There are 5 classes:

  • Class 1 Senior Bull, over 2 years old on 31st July 2021

  • Class 2 Junior Bull, under 2 on 31st July 2021

  • Class 3 Cow, in calf or with calf at foot

  • Class 4 Heifer, born after 31st July 2018

  • Class 5 Calf, either sex, up to 9 months old on 31st July 2021

1st and 2nd prize winners from each class will then go on to be considered for Champion and Reserve Champion. Champion to receive the Hatherland trophy. Reserve Champion to receive the Cherrybank Shield. Winners will be announced at the Summer Jamboree and featured on the website and in social media.

How to enter

Photos should be emailed to riggitshow@gmail.com If entering more than one animal, please send each entry in a separate email. Include:

  • Class

  • Animal Name

  • Animal Sex

  • Date of Birth

  • Registration Number

  • Owner Name and Address

All entries to be received by 12 noon on 31st July 2021. The entries will then be made anonymous and forwarded to our judge Beth McVerry. Do please consider entering. This is intended to be a fun way of exhibiting your Riggits and a chance for anyone who hasn't considered entering a livestock show to have a go.

Summer Jamboree 2021

We are really pleased to announce the summer jamboree this year! We had hoped to go to Scotland, but that has been deferred for now. And instead, we are invited by Darlene and Patrick Ford to join them at their new farm shop in Dorset. They have a lovely couple of days of events planned. Details to follow, but in the meantime put 12-13th August in your diaries.
