Transfer or Sale of a Riggit Galloway

When animals change ownership it is the responsibility of the vendor to inform the Society and to return the pedigree certificate to the Secretary.  A new certificate is then issued showing the details of the new owner. The vendor is responsible for paying the transfer fee (£5.00).

It is important to keep transfers up to date so that members’ records accurately reflect the cattle in their herd.

Birth notifications and registrations of calves born will not be processed if the dam and/or sire is in the wrong ownership.  In that instance please contact the Registration Secretary to discuss overdue transfer of an animal.   Extra fees may be incurred.

If the transfer of an animal takes place at the same time that its registration application is submitted, the transfer fee will be waived.

Most pedigree certificates have a transfer form on the reverse. Alternatively you can download a transfer form from the link below or the certificate can be accompanied by a letter with the new owner’s details signed by the current owner. This should be sent to the current Registration Secretary (see Contact Us page)
